A plan that benefits all Park Rapids Area students.

Based on community input, research, and years of planning, the school board asked voters to consider a single ballot question for $51.65 million to accomplish the following goals:

  1. Improve health and safety.

  2. Provide more space for growing student enrollment.

  3. Improve college and career readiness.

  4. Update existing educational spaces.

  • Improves security by relocating the administrative offices to connect to the main entrances at the high school and Century. This change will allow staff to properly monitor who is entering and leaving our buildings at all times.

  • Improves safety by creating a second drop-off and pick-up area at Century and additional parking for parents and staff. The plan will also rebuild the south parking lot at the high school.

  • Increases accessibility by renovating the high school restrooms to be accessible for students and community members with physical limitations. The plan will also make our locker rooms compliant to federal accessibility standards by moving them from the basement to the first floor of the high school. Further, the plan will build new, accessible playgrounds at Century.

  • Provides a new bus garage on district-owned property, complete with a maintenance shop and wash bay. The bus garage will be built adjacent to the schools, eliminating the hazard of crossing Highway 34 multiple times each day.

  • Builds a new wing for grades 7-8 at the high school. The Frank White Education Center will be demolished to make room for the new addition, which will provide 7th and 8th graders access to career and technical education and other opportunities at the high school.

  • Renovates Century to accommodate early childhood students. Realigning grades will allow our youngest students (PreK-6) to be under one roof at Century. This will create better transitions for our youngest Panthers and give their teachers more opportunities to collaborate.

  • Adds space for career and technical education (CTE) at the high school, including a dedicated classroom for agriculture and art classes and a “CTE flex” space that will provide flexible space for all CTE classes.

  • Adds space for the Alternative Learning Center (ALC), which will be moved from Frank White to allow ALC students better access to hands-on learning.

  • Updates existing hands-on learning areas including the science department, business education and nursing classroom.

  • Provides new collaboration and commons space to allow students to work in groups outside of the classroom setting.

  • Updates existing classrooms at the high school, including expanding space and replacing equipment and furniture such as desks, tables and chairs.

  • Builds a new gymnasium at the high school to better serve our athletic programs, including two separate stations for physical education classes.

  • Improves the media center at the high school.

  • Updates the auditorium and replaces the scene shop at the high school.

  • Relocates the kitchen next to the cafeteria, eliminating the need for kitchen staff to transport food through the building.
